The Kangra Art Museum is loctated in Dharamshala near bus terminal. It displays some fine artifacts of the ancient Kangra, local culture, tibetan and Buddhist artifacts. In this museum you’ll find many unique arts, some fine miniature paintings from Kangra local artists and school kids. You will also find temple carvings, embroidery, weapons, shamianas, royal tents, pandals and palanquins belonging to the local Rajas(Kings). A section in the museum is also dedicated to the contemporary artists and photographers. The Kangra art is famous for the use of seductive figures and very fine vibrant colors.
Kangra museum also displays a collection of rare pottery, ancient coins, beautiful sculptures and anthropological materials. You’ll also find beautiful jewelry off various tribes, embroidered costumes and unique local dresses of the kangra culture. In a nutshell it is a pictorial representation of the culture of Himachal Pradesh, you can spend an hour or two visiting the place and exploring the museum to have real taste of the culture of Himachal Pradesh.
This museum can be visited anytime between 10am to 1:30pm and 2pm to 5pm (closed on Mondays and public holidays). Well! to visit this place one has to pay a small entrance fee, which is Rs 10 for Indian nationals and Rs 50 for foreigners.
