Shiva Tample Baijnath

Baijnath is a beautiful town of kangra district of Himachal Pradesh. Baijnath is famous for its 13th century temple of lord Shiva which is belived to be one of the twelve jyotirilingas. Whole temple is surrounded by the gardens. and there are many small tample inside the main temple .It has beautiful pedestrial path which is built of stones.

As per the history , the temple has been worshiped since 1204 AD. According to the history king Ravana prayed for a long time and had sacrificed his head 10 times to make lord shiva happy . There is an area marked inside the temple where the head falls . In the city of Baijnath during Dussehra festival there is a massive celebrations & effigy of Ravana is torched to flames like everywhere in other country .to the devotion of Ravana towards Lord Shiva. Another interesting thing about the town of Baijnath is that there are no shops of goldsmiths here .
